FARMS programs in Moldova

Program Start Date: 2005
Moldova, a country east of the former Iron Curtain, is landlocked between the nations of Ukraine and Romania. Our partnerships with numerous donors, churches, and ministries have allowed this program to begin, and it is starting show success for the believers in this area.

The Moldova program is a first for FARMS in Eastern Europe. The country is known as “The poorest country” in Europe when you look at just the economics of the area. The average Moldovan family has to live on the USD equivalent of $1200 dollars for an entire year. Imagine providing food, housing, and education for children here in the United States on $1200 USD.

The people of Moldova have a great work ethic and are proud of their history. The projects visited in 2007 reflected a true entrepreneurial spirit when provided the opportunity. Projects included: bee keeping projects, monument construction, produce delivery and trade, and numerous animal and agricultural projects.

The results of the success of each project are that they begin a process to bring each family out of poverty. It allows each project holder to maintain their dignity and watch the blessing of God as they use their unique talents. We also heard the testimonies of pastors who have seen increased tithing in their churches which have allowed them to focus on ministering and sharing the Gospel.

Please pray for the Christians in Moldova. Also, pray as we have some initial interest in other programs in different areas of the country.
